Welcome to Through A Glass Darkly, a collection of candid theological reflections and personal testimonies about trusting Jesus amidst sin, suffering and mental illness
The title of this blog comes from the King James Version of 1 Corinthians 13:12
“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”
For me it has been a verse of comfort in the mess and confusion of life. As much as God has revealed himself to us perfectly through Jesus and the Bible, our vision remains obscured (vs 12). We know in part (vs 9). We don’t yet see the whole picture. What we do see can be distorted by our sin, our pain, our brokenness. Even so we see something… silhouettes, glimpses, flickering glints of the goodness God. And they give us the courage to look toward a future when all that is imperfect will disappear (vs10). When we can gaze into the face of our beautiful, wise and loving God and see all things clearly (vs12). Until then we wait and trust, even in the darkness, we are known by Him (vs 12).
